Starcom: if possible, a few words about how it all began? Inusa Dawuda: It all started when I one day fulfilled one my childhood dream by buying myself a saxophone as a teenager and taking serious lessons….Then music became the center of my life. I started with the saxophone mainly to please myself…maybe I also dreamt to play well enough to please others As the wise men say the journey is the destination…During my attempt to be a complete musician I tried using my voice, playing percussion and other basic instruments. I end up singing more and the saxophone became my companion. Starcom: Who is your idol and was a mainstay in the beginning? Inusa Dawuda: I first got the kick through James Brown.. I understood that kind of music and the way he does it from the very first time I heard it as a child. I later tried to copy his energy and screaming style. I listened a lot to reggae and admired the songwriting skills of Bob Marley. There are also musicians like the late Afro-beat Icon Fela Kuti and the present one Manu Dibango and also the late smooth Jazz saxophonist Grover Washington Jr. who were my heroes when it comes to sax. Starcom: Somehow to sign their tracks to choose sonorous, but adequate alias, and sometimes it's a big problem! How did yours? Inusa Dawuda: You mean to sign own tracks to the industry right? You see in the past it was difficult to find and get your music to the so called majors and now even harder because there simply more productions on the market and they have more choice. The record market has changed so you need to find adequate partners beyond the majors to spread your music. So this is what I do when necessary. Starcom: What was the turning point in your career? Inusa Dawuda: Was with my first global hit "Morning Light" . Starcom: Could you share the stages of his career until the end of 2010? Inusa Dawuda: Chronologically listed here my successful releases until 2010 or see attached pdf: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Inusa+Dawuda Starcom: You've somehow played in Ibiza, is not it, how do you this island? All of it is very different opinion. At least at first. Inusa Dawuda: My first show in Ibiza was I guess around 2002 in Space. The atmosphere was magical. Those days Space had an open terrace it was fantastic. Followed by some little venues and later a great gig Pacha with Denis the Menace & Big World on a line up with Erick Morillo. This was our "Going Back To My Roots" time. Apart from that it was a place to be when it comes to house music. Ibiza is was special those years and yes it still is when you are not only looking for party because I think there are other places in the world that the party qualities when it comes to summer holiday clubbing which Ibiza was legendary for. Starcom: Where are the best parties? :) Do you have some the most memorable party? Inusa Dawuda: I liked parties on Mykonos, Nikki beach Miami, Ukriane, Russia, Turky, just few to mention. Starcom: And so, on which the recall and did not want to? Do you even like to tour? Not afraid to fly?) Inusa Dawuda: I like to tour, entertainment is my mission. Action is better than words results even louder so I need to go on stage so that people feel the flow of my music! I am not scared to fly, but sometimes in the planes some negative thoughts try to run through my mind then I immediately focus my mind on something positive. Everything going to be alright after all. Starcom: You visit any music conference: Sochi, Miami? Generally, what you have to do with it? Well. I propose to move to more abstract, but they are not less relevant topics Inusa Dawuda: I once visited the Miami Winter Music Conference. I also had a show in Nikki Beach and Hed Kandi Lounge. It was a nice time with friends and to see, meet colleagues you only hear about or see on pages, but nothing more for me. Starcom: How do you feel about the idea that now become a super popular hard not having a lot of tracks? I mean a LOT. Inusa Dawuda: As far as I am concern I have enough material. Almost every year I have tracks released and some luckily make their way to the top. Right now I have one of my best Singles on F & S Records. A Track called “I WANT YOUR SAX” with my friend and collaborator DJ Sign. We have worked together in the past where he always contributed strong remixes to my songs. We will be creating more in the near future. Special about "I Want Your Sax" is that it is my first dance release dominated by my saxophone. So a special track. My second release parallel to I W Y S is my 4th Vocal Album “I FEEL BEAUTIFUL” on my Label Kingdom Of Music. This album is a collection of 13 tracks in collaboration with different producers, the result is a various one. Starcom: What are your plans for this year? Well, perhaps, the last question is largely philosophical. That mean to you to be a musician? Inusa Dawuda: In the near future there will be some changes on my live show. I don´t want to reveal it yet but I will add more spice to it. This year will be the I Feel Beautiful Tour year, presenting my new songs including I Want Your Sax alongside my old hits.
